Students will also be able to understand basic information intended for tourists.
Designed for students with some prior knowledge of the language, this course builds on the topics and communication skills taught in Beginner I & Beginner II courses. While the emphasis of the course is on developing speaking proficiency, it continues to introduce basic grammar concepts (irregular verbs, modal expressions, nominative, prepositional and accusative cases and basic verbs of motion) and teaches beginning reading skills. Upon completion of the course students will be able to participate in simple conversations while traveling, at work or during leisure time. Students will also be able to understand basic information intended for tourists.
Designed for students with a basic knowledge of the language, this course focuses on the development of fluency. Students will expand their ability to carry out simple conversations on a limited range of topics. Previous grammar concepts are reviewed, and more complicated structures are introduced in context. Upon completion of the course students will be able to initiate and maintain predictable conversations and understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters.
Designed for students with a solid knowledge of basic grammar concepts and the ability to conduct conversations on familiar topics including at the workplace. Students will be introduced to more advanced verb tenses and complex structures (un-prefixed and prefixed motion verbs, imperative forms, negative pronouns). Authentic materials will be used and will form the basis of classroom discussions.
The Contemporary Topics course is designed for students who speak Russian at a High Intermediate to Mid Advanced level. Classes focus on improving fluency and conversational skills, expanding vocabulary on advanced topics, refining pronunciation, and fine-tuning grammar. Students will read authentic media and participate in discussions on topics related to current events and Russian culture. Contemporary Topics courses are ideal language maintenance and can be taken multiple times as topics will change each session.

"Maria was fantastic. I LOVED this class! She was so great at explaining different grammar concepts to help me understand. I have a really hard time with pronunciation and she gave me some great tips that helped. I feel really confident with my Russian skills already and my grandparents are really impressed with my quick progress (Russian is their 1st language)."
Beginner II Student"Anna does a great job teaching the language. She clearly has much experience with Russian instruction and linguistics, and uses personal history to help bring the language to life. I have enjoyed learning from Anna and hope to continue to do so going forward."
Beginner III Student"Tatiana is awesome! She knows how to get students talking and is great at pinpointing their grammatical errors. I also appreciate that she takes time to incorporate colloquialisms/sayings in her lessons."
