Vacation English
The ICLS Vacation English Program includes daily practice of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with a strong emphasis on conversation and pronunciation.
Vacation English extends beyond the classroom. Students can participate in weekly trips to local sites of interest, such as museums, monuments, national parks, and seasonal events, giving students a chance to make friends and practice their English.

Review our achievement scale and interpretation at this link. The chart below outlines a list of benchmarks for each level of ICLS’s IEP. Upon completing a level, a student will be able to:
Produce basic survival phrases and share simple biographical information.
Handle predictable situations by using short, simple statements.
Carry simple conversations about routine daily activities such as simple descriptions and directions.
Show emerging evidence of control of time frames, speak appropriately in routine social situations, and discuss basic work-related topics.
Speak at paragraph level, maintain conversations on routine topics, and participate in informal and limited work-related situations.
Fully participate in most casual conversations about work, family, and current events, speak in paragraphs, and handle a routine situation with a complication.
Communicate on topics related to personal interests and non-routine situations, show evidence of paraphrasing, and handle routine work-related interactions/situations.
Demonstrate mastery of basic structures and emerging use of complex structures, discuss abstract topics and a broad range of work-related and professional situations using cultural references. Students at this level can easily communicate in a variety of tenses.
Speak with sufficient accuracy to support opinion and hypothesize, and deal with linguistically unfamiliar situations, including formal and informal conversations about social and work-related topics.
