International Center for Language Studies Launches Weekend Conversational Language Classes in Five Languages

New offerings in German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, and Vietnamese designed for intermediate and advanced learners ready to reclaim their fluency

WASHINGTON, D.C. — June 15, 2026 — The International Center for Language Studies (ICLS), Washington, D.C.'s premier language school since 1966, announces the launch of five new weekend language classes beginning July 6, 2026. The new offerings — German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, and Vietnamese — are designed exclusively for intermediate and advanced learners who already have a foundation in their target language and are seeking structured, community-driven practice to maintain and sharpen their skills.

The weekend classes are not introductory courses. They are designed for the learner who studied abroad and came home, the heritage speaker who grew up hearing the language but rarely uses it now, the professional whose language skills are going dormant between assignments — anyone who has invested years in a language and needs a place to keep that investment alive.

"At ICLS, we're all self-proclaimed language nerds, but juggling work and family schedules often doesn't leave much time to pursue those interests during the work week. Our weekend classes offer a relaxed environment for practicing your language and finding community with others who share your excitement for language and culture." –Daniel Knowlton, Foreign Languages Director

Each class meets on weekends and prioritizes conversation, comprehension, and real-time exchange among peers at similar proficiency levels. Small class sizes and native-speaking instructors — hallmarks of ICLS's 60-year approach to language education — ensure that every student gets the interaction, not just the instruction.
